Before you have any extensions installed, you will have a consultation with your stylist to go over your goals, method options, color matching, maintenance, and budget. After your consultation, your stylist will take a deposit for the installation appointment and order your hair. On the day of installation, your stylist will use your chosen method for installation and then cut the extensions to blend seamlessly into your natural hair. We will finish the appointment with a polished style and go over the care/maintenance of your extensions.
The length of appointment depends on the extension method. It can range from 2-8 hours. Your stylist will give you a more specific timeframe during your consultation.
Beaded wefts and tape-in extensions typically require maintenance every 6 weeks. K-tip extensions require maintenance every 3-4 months.
When extensions are install and maintained correctly, they do not damage your natural hair. You should not feel any pain while wearing extensions.
Generally, the best way to maintain your extensions include:
1. Wash your hair using a high quality shampoo and conditioner.
2. Detangle your hair regularly using a Denman brush or Tangle Teezer. Be gentle.
3. Protect your hair from heat damage by using a heat protectant and keeping the temperature low on your styling tools.
4. Limit the amount of heat you put on your hair. Excessive use of heat will damage not only your hair, but also the extension hair.
5. Keep your hair and extensions hydrated by using serums and hair masks.
6. Sleep with your hair in loose braids and invest in a silk pillowcase to prevent unnecessary tangling and friction.
7. Avoid swimming pools and the ocean! The chlorine and saltwater are very drying to your extensions. Use a swim cap or fully saturate your hair with a conditioner if you must get in the water.
